Tektronix along with Lubbock Audio Visual, Inc. would like to cordially invite you to attend an informative seminar on Digital Television topics presented by Tektronix Application Engineer Steve Holmes and Jim Edwards.  The Tektronix DTV Technology Seminar is a complementary 6.5 hour event where you will gain valuable working knowledge of the technologies behind digital terrestrial television broadcasting. 

Who will benefit from attending this seminar?

Cable Operators, Engineers, and Development personnel updating CATV Systems from analog to digital and VOD (Video On Demand) who want a better understanding of both Digital Video, MPEG, and RF modulation as it relates to their environment.  Also Government personnel looking to become more familiar with Digital Video, Standard and high Definition, and MPEG Video Compression. 

Steve Holmes, Presenter – has over 20 years of video experience.  Before coming to Tektronix, Steve spent 20 years with GTE/Verizon installing, teaching, engineering, and managing video and CATV systems.  Prior to coming to Tektronix he was teaching video transmission and video engineering to non-video engineers.  He was involved in one of the first VOD (Video on Demand), NVOD (Near-Video on Demand), FTTN (Fiber to the Node) and HFC (Hybrid Fiber Coax) trails before the development of digital video compression systems.  Today Steve works as Senior Video Applications Engineer for Tektronix, consulting and teaching test methodologies for broadcast, studio, cable, and manufacturing customers based in the western United States and western Canada.

Jim Edwards, Presenter – has worked in the television industry since 1960 and has worked for Tektronix in their TV Test Products since 1983.  Jim is a Senior Video Applications Engineer and holds a BSEE and the FCC Ham license KD4TGA.  He is currently based in Atlanta area, but has previously been based in Huntsville, AL, Dallas, TX, and originally Mobile, AL.  Jim also serves as the current SMPTE Southern Regional Governor and SMPTE Director of Education and is a SMPTE fellow.
